Love Care

What a week! Last week was so amazing. Thank you all who showed love by coming to the site. Thank you for sharing on social media. Thank you for the feedback. In other words, THANK YOU!

This week’s post is all about expressing LOVE and what better way to show love than Self Care!

How was your week? A lot has happened in the last few days. We celebrated Valentine’s Day or some say Singles Awareness Day. Whatever it is to you, how was it? For me, I went to work and after had dinner with my girl friends at a Korean BBQ Restaurant. OMG the best! We had a time. The food, atmosphere, conversation, the food 🙂 everything was just simply amazing!

This is my first year in a while spending it with friends. Before I was home alone, sad about how my life had shifted. This year, I had pure gratitude. Love is more than just one day. Love is the foundation.

What did Kirk Franklin say “Patient, Kind, that’s love. What it really means to loveeee”

This week’s chakra journal prompts were very important as the holiday approached and how I took in the days leading up to it and the days after. I wanted to be intentional with myself and how I was feeling. This healing journey has been an emotional rollercoaster that I do not mind being on because it is ultimately leading to my healing. I have trigger months, seasons, special days and I try to lean more into them and explore my mind during those times.

What does self care look like for you? Is it starting a new hobby? Going to your favorite restaurant? Reading a book? Binge watching your favorite show? Reading affirmations? Getting a massage? Cleaning? Self love is self care.

In Honor of Black History Month:
Did you know self care first started in the 1950s and it wasn’t until civil rights activists, the Black Panther Party, began using it as a form to counter activist burn out that it became popular. The Black Panther party out together resources for activists because they realized there was a lack of medical resources for the black community. Over time, black leaders did not just see self care as a luxury. Self care is a necessity and a form of empowerment. I love this quote from Angela Davis, “if we don’t start practicing collective self care now, there’s no way to imagine, much less reach, a time of freedom”

I know you have probably heard this a million times but I want to encourage you to pour within. Pour into your personal cup before you pour into others. Make sure you feel loved from within before you extend love. Make sure you understand love from within before extending it. Is it healthy? Are you patient, kind to yourself before you try to extend it. I promise once you show yourself the love you are trying to extend to others, extending it will be a breeze and everything will work together. Love is about showing up for yourself so if you need to take a moment to check in with yourself, do it! That is love! Love is taking a rest day vs going out. Refilling your energy cup.

I have been showing love to myself by binge watching Game of Thrones. It takes me to my happy place and gives me what I need! Find some self care. It can be as simple as a daily walk or reading an article. I can’t say it enough, pour in your cup.

One thing that I am learning to do and working on daily is checking in with myself. How am I truly feeling? What do I need today? Try it! Ask yourself, what do I need today to be at ease? How am I feeling?

I want to encourage you to participate in the weekly Chakra Journal Prompts. Allow it to opened those blocked chakras to promote healing and success. You can do it. I have confidence in you. I support you whatever your goal is. If you need one fan, count me in. This is the time to try new things and have fun with it. Lets do this!
