I am back!
I know. I literally made 1 or 2 posts then I needed a much respected break. Life starts life-ing when you are trying to do something good. It never fails.
But here we are!!
Happy May! The cicadas are out in full force! School is almost out for the kids! What a time!
What do you have planned for the summer? For me, I have a couple solo trips and family trips planned. I really want to use this time to reset and get back to my happy place. Summer is my second favorite time of the year. I really love Fall. It is not too hot, not too cold. The bugs are chilling out and its just a “warm” feeling time to me. Plus even though my birthday is in December, it is still considered Fall. Summer is the time to be a Hot ____ (insert whatever you like). It is warm, refreshing and you can step away from the routine for a moment. A much respected break!
I have been in a funk lately and I don’t know if it is due to the retrograde, change in blood pressure medicine or what but I have been out of it! It took me up to this week to be like “Look Ash it is time for a change and you gotta get back to this blog you spent so long to start!” So again HERE WE ARE… again. ๐
Speaking of breaks… My son broke his arm like 3 weeks ago and that has been an experience for the entire family. My son has been watching Space Jam 2 on repeat. Like in a matter of days he could quote the movie. It is definitely a remarkable talent he has! He was at school and decided to reenact the movie, particularly the scene where Lebron is doing that crazy dunk and hanging on the rim. My son has studied that part so much that he forgot to study what to do immediately after. That is where the trouble started. He fractured his arm and has to wear a cast and honestly still in the cast. His doctor said he can take off after this week but this mama is making him wear an extra 2-3 weeks. This will help my nerves and I will know it is for sure for sure healed. But this break not only was a lesson for my son but it was a lesson for me too. Sometimes I only look so far at something and I miss the bigger picture. I also miss the “effect” in the “cause and effect”. I am so focused on what I am doing, I miss the reaction. In other words, I focus on the up and don’t master the down. This break made my son (literally) have to reset and same for me. I had to stop and reset. But what a blessing it is to reset! To be able to take a break and reflect.
How often do you take breaks? Mental or physical. Are you completely still in those breaks or are you doing something else which would technically not make it a break. ๐
Whatever break you took, your comeback is 100000 times better. It is ok to take a break. Just make sure you are resetting after.
This quote in my planner for this week really touched my heart: “Sometimes the smallest step in the right direction ends up being the biggest step of your life. Tiptoe if you must, but take a step.” -Naeem Callaway
Until next time!
Love and Stuff!
